To all those people who say that if it wasnt for Steve Bennett's bad decisions then Chelsea would be champions, I would like to point out that Chelsea only drew with Bolton, meaning United only needed a draw from their game. Even if Wigan had been given a penalty and scored it, United still scored 2 goals and therefore would still have won and finished on more points!! Also, even if Scholes had been sent off, anybody who knows anything about United would know that they have the experience to have got the result they needed anyway. The best team over 38 games won the title, well done United!!

All this talk of Manchester United being handed the premiership title because of Mr. Bennett is wrecking my head! A title is decided over 38 games... decisions even out over the course of the season. Ronaldo won some soft penalties at the start of the season but following huge criticism all of a sudden referees weren't giving him any even when he was fouled (Against Villa, Pourtsmouth, and most recently Cheslea). And as for the Liverpool fan who said United 'don't deserve' to claim another success in the Champs Lge final, well that's pretty rich coming from a supporter whose team won a champions lge having finished 37pts behind Premiership champions in 2005? May the best team win...

As a Liverpool fan, it pains me to say well done to Man Utd ... but they were consistently the best team last season, so they deserve to win the title. However, yesterday's win at Wigan was more than assisted by a shocking display by Mr Bennett, the referee. Yet again, this chap showed how inept he is, and that he clearly favours the 'big name' teams. Rio's hand ball was clear for everyone to see (including the referee), and Scholes should have been sent off for two bad challenges. There is (rightly) a call for more respect in football ... it would be easier to respect referees if they were less likely to favour certain teams!

Well well well... Its nice to see how blinded Manchester United fans are, if Steve Bennett had any integrity Chelsea may very well be champions. It was a blatant penalty against Ferdinand, a dodgy penalty decision with Rooney and Scholes should have been sent off in the first half! All this talk building up to the final day about people holding their nerves and then the referee bottles it! Maybe he was scared to send off another Man U player after the hell he went through from the players when he sent off Ronaldo for a headbutt earlier this season. People will say Chelsea drew against Bolton anyway but if you watched the game you would see that it went flat after the Giggs goal news filtered through as they knew the result made no difference. But congratulations to Manchester United they have played some very good football at times this season...even if they were very fortunate on more than one occassion, can you say Tevez against Blackburn when it was supposed to be a goal kick?!

Well the best season for a long time with no 1 team really dominating. For a while, it looked like Arsenal would glide past all comers then Man U pick up a head of steam and then Chelsea make it interesting. I believe that the better, more consistent team came out on top and as for Chelsea, we drew too many games that we should have won. drawing at home to Wigan and Bolton is not the sign of the Premiership Champs. Anyhow, well done to Avram, Steve Clarke and the team, you have done yourselves proud through a tough season with lots of issues to overcome. I hope that the character that has been shown will see us through in Moscow and should be a great game. Next season, we need to make some improvements and start playing with confidence and flair rather than just confidence and "grind". I hope that we play Anelka more as he will help us play a different style of football and that Ballack can maintain the level of form he has shown recently. If all top 4 can improve again, should be another great season. Just a final word of congratulations to Ryan Giggs - a one team man and a credit to professional footballers. I've never liked MU but hats off to a true professional who deserves great respect .....but please not from the Chelsea team that turns up in Moscow - lets bring the Cup back and make our piece of history!

Chelsea fans shouldn't be disappointed. They were a disjointed unit for most of the season and didn't click til it was too late. .Fergie definitely has a lot of influence..he's a wily old fox!! Steve bennet bottled it yesterday because of this influence....and will ferdinand and evra see any disciplinary action for their behaviour at the bridge? In rugby both would have recieved suspensions at a critical time of the season..In The PL? Not if Fergie has anything to say about it!!

Well done and well deserved Man Utd. To all the bitter Chelsea fans the best team won, deal with it and move on. To the other (true) Chelsea fans who took it on the chin, i still think your team did you proud and good luck for the Champs Final. I don't like Arsenal and never will but they should be proud for the attempt they made and should be a force for next season depending of course on how many players they lose. Liverpool....well less said about them the better. Finally WELL DONE to Fulham, great job guys!! You didn't stay up by chance but by blood, sweat and true grit. MAN UTD FOR THE DOUBLE!!! GOD BLESS!!!

It was fitting that Ryan Giggs score the winner in that manner, well done on that and I have to say thats one of very few United players I can respect. It was fitting for them to win the title in such a manner too. A debatable penalty given to them. A stone-wall penalty not given against them. A stone-wall red card not given against them. United pull it out when they need to, and they must be respected for that. What people cant respect is seeing the same two referees (Bennett and Riley) in charge when they need things to go for them. Chelsea deserved this seasons Premiership title. They've just kept on going through all the ridiculous Manchester United hype, and like I say had it not been for even more outrageous decisions from Mr Bennett, would have won it today. Lets just hope they go to Moscow and claim a trophy for the season, because it would be richly undeserved of United to claim another success. Lets hope that the referee in that game has a bit of testicular fortitude. I doubt it.

well done to UTD.. the best team won the league and I'm glad they won on points (despite losing more games)...than goal difference..they were that much better than everyone else this season.. the only thing that spoilt it for me was the performance of Steve bennet.. The top teams certainly get the benefit of the refereeing decisions and this season (apart from arsenal) has been no exception..we certainly don't want to see titles decided by refereeing decisions The FA do need to address the inconsistency in the refereeing if they are serious about improving standards in the game...and they certainly need to support and protect their refs better from the poor behaviour of the players particularly the type of behaviour we've witnessed this season from Chelsea and Utd players.

Finding a Chelsea Fan who will say 'well done' United is like asking Drogba to stay on his feet for more than 5 minutes! Anyway, my point is simple: when Chelsea Fans have finished moaning, groaning, forgetting the advantages they have had - like a longer break after their Champs League Semi before returning to league action last Monday away to Newcastle - there is one fact that no one, and I mean no one, can argue with - well two facts actually! One, a leage table puts teams where they belong after 38 matches - ironing out poor officials decisions, poor pitches, injuries, etc etc. The league table tells the story. United have been the best. Two, the Champions can only play against the opposition that turns up on the day. So, if Liverpool were poor, if Arsenal have been inconsistent and got tired, who is to blame. Not United... we played 38 matches and, through them all, deserve to be top. It really is as simple as that. Well done boys ... well deserved, well earnt and I am well happy.

Robert Dickson (Manchester United fan) says...
I remember when Sir Alex Ferguson was asked about his feelings at the final whistle of the Champions League Final in Barcelona in 1999. Manchester United had just beaten Bayern Munich in one of the most memorable and exciting climaxes to a football match ever. He said, "Football?...Bloody hell!" For a few seconds afterwards he was speechless. He was eluding to the fact that football can, and, often does, throw up the most amazing surprises. Even the great man himself could not have predicted such an outcome, he was grateful that something, somewhere had shone so brightly upon him and his team that day. Such are the fortunes of the brave. As managers go, Fergie is up there with the best of them. He will equal Bob Paisley's record of winning four European trophies, if, United beat Chelsea in Moscow. His domestic record is unsurpassed and his longevity in the game is pretty much unequalled. Sir Bobby Robson managed well into his seventies and I see Sir Alex doing the same, I wonder what the record books will say when he retires? Manchester United's future looks secure, I agree with Fergie when he says that he has a young squad which will be successful in the future. I expect the manager to be part of that success. Congradulations to the team for winning a tenth Premiership title and good luck in the Champions League final

I was hoping that Birmingham would be able to claw through the relegation battle however the 2-0 lead that they threw away against Liverpool was obviously quite costly. I beleive that their players will stay loyal however it may be hard 2 keep onto talent like Larsson and Forsell. I think Readings players will also stay loyal 2 the club. I would like to think that Barry would stay at Villa although the temptation of Champions League football may just be too much and the likes of playing alongside Stevie G although lets face it Ashley Young didnt do to badly this season now did he, with 7 goals and 17 assists in the league!!!! Everton should do well next year in the Uefa cup!!They were unlucky this year losing to a Fiorentina squad who are above Ac Milan in Seria A!! Thats the milan who just 12 months ago won the Champions League now. I hope that Everton and the other english teams in the Uefa Cup have as much luck and the English teams in the Champions Leage in the last 2 seasons (3/4 semi finalists both this year and last year were english teams) I hope that next season is as down 2 the wire as this season was. Hopefully there will b a 3 or 4 horse race as there was in 98/99 but i think Liverpool will need to make a few signings and Arsenal will need Adebayor to be on form week in week out. I also think the loss of Flamini and possibly Hleb could be a huge blow to their title chances. In my opinion Arsenal threw away leads to easily this season as they were in front against chelsea in the bridge and Man United at Old Trafford but went on to lose both games. Liverpool on the other hand relied far 2 much on Torres for the goals and he didnt get going away from home till the later stages of the season ( vs Inter (a) and Spurs (a) ) maybe if they get Barry tho he could fire in a few after all he scored 8 goals and got 10 assists for Villa in the Premiership this year!!!

How fitting that it was Ryan Giggs that capped off United's excellent domestic campaign, sealing his 10th winners medal. I'm sorry James McMurty feels so bitter about today that he is unable to accept that united were the better team this season again. The talk of boardroom trouble is ridiculous, at united there was, and still is, unrest with the Glazers in charge but i don't hear united players blaming poor performances on it. While the excellent form of Ronaldo has of course been a major boost for us, we are by no means a 1 man team. The fact that we have the best defence and defender (rio ferdinand) in the league has been a major part of our success, while we continue to provide exciting football week in week out with players like giggs nani rooney tevez and anderson. Once again ferguson has proved himself in the transfer market with excellent young talents, whilst chelsea flopped with malouda, ben haim and pizarro. While chelsea are undoubtedly an excellent team, they lack professionalism and team spirit with players like drogba ballack and anelka. C'mon united in moscow!!!

I think James Mcmurty has a fair point about how United relied on Ronaldo alot but then again isn't that what Chelsea did last season when Drogba was in such good form. Ronaldo wasn't alone responsible for winning the title. Rio and Vidic have been immense at the back and I was surprised to see that neither of them received nominations for player of the year. My friend who is a chelsea supporter said to me angrily after the match that United didn't deserve to win but I think that he couldn't have been more wrong goal difference alone shows how deserving Man Utd have been this season. And if they didn't deserve to win then who did? Certainly not chelsea. If anyone it would be Arsenal who were so impressive until unfortunately they fell apart after the injury to Eduardo. Manchester United should win the champions league if Fergie fields a strong side this time and they play t their potential. Terry will certainly be a big miss for them if he doesn't return in time.

In the end it came down to the two different approaches of either team. Ironically the two club colours seem to represent the different styles: Man United are red; passionate and feisty like fire. Chelsea are blue; cool and collected like ice. Today we saw United take the lead and go full force to cement their lead. Chelsea, having gone a goal up, like we have seen so much this season sat back and tried to defend their advantage. In the not to distant future it is unlikely that these two styles will change. Manchester United with their tradition of all out attacking and Chelsea with their confidence and domination of the football, these two teams are almost certainly to be at the cutting edge of Premiership and European success next season.

Over the course of the season, United have shown class, composure, aggression, and a high work rate, which has ultimately paid off. Chelsea are very arrogant, with too many big names (Ballack, Drogba, Ashley Cole, Cech, Lampard, Malouda...), United grew as the season went on, and were just immense. Cristiano Ronaldo takes all the plaudits rightfully, but equally, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez have been sensational. Tevez is very clinical, while Rooney will run all day, everyday to strive for results. Patrice Evra has been solid, he is probably the smallest left back ever, but has shown aerial ability and great pace and penetration. Nani and Anderson have shown glimpses of class, which I am sure is the base of our future. Hopefully Ben Foster, Gerard Pique and Fletcher will get more football next year, even as squad players, because when they played, you could see desire and determination, which is a fantastic sight at a club like united. The United midfield of Scholes and Carrick has proved a solid force both defensively and attacking for another year, as they are the foundations of the team. Hargreaves should play as a right back permanently, he was quality against Barca and Arsenal, and has shown class all season. But I applaud Wesley Brown, to begin with he was awful at right back, he couldnt play a simple pass, but after the season got on a bit, he filled Gary Nevilles boots better than Neville himself. What a professional Wes Brown is, and deserves every penny of his new £50k per week contract. Great season boys, bring home the European Cup!

Wow, what a nail biter. Although many reds will claim that it was in the bag! I for one had serious doubts, it wasn't until Giggs placed the second goal, then I could finaly relax. Well done United and well done Giggs, 10 titles to your name. Well deserved.

Full credit to Man Utd on winning the league, overall theyve played the best football this season and full deserve to win the title this season despite Chelsea's honourable late surge. Special praise goes to my team Everton who finally secured 5th place and UEFA Cup football next season!

James Mcmurty (Chelsea fan) says...
I would like to say congratulations to Utd but i think that their victory is nothing that wasn't expected. When you look at the problems Chelsea had between Abramovich and Jose, Liverpool had between the co-owners and the potential dismissal of Benitez, Arsenal's youth team who were not mentally strong enough to win, it was always apparent Utd would win the title. They had a plain sailing season, had barely any injuries except to Saha but he's played barely any games for the past 2 seasons so he wasn't a major miss. Ronaldo was never injured and he carried his momentum through the season. All credit to the bloke, he is a strong and cunning player but when a team plays through you, you're bound to have goals and assists. The reason the title went down to the wire was because Utd let Chelsea in, not because Utd were the better team over the season. They may have scored more goals than any other team but they also lost 5 times including twice to Man City, a team who were humiliated by Boro 8-1. Utd aren't flawless, they struggle against teams who can retain possession and when Ronaldo isn't firing, nor is anyone else. It's laughable when you hear Ferguson complaining about Utd having to play on the Saturday after Champions League action on the football because they always get the rub of the green when it comes to fixtures. Ferguson complained Bolton were out celebrating and all the while he's sending a bottle of wine to Bruce and magically, Wigan's turbulent pitch is perfect and the rugby team who should've played on friday are now playing on monday. It amazes me that Ferguson and Utd are allowed to get away with it. I guess football is always a game of hit and miss, and Ferguson will be happy to take his 10th title but let's be realistic, without Ronaldo this team wouldn't be in the top 2. So in truth, the season should go down as "Ronaldo and the 10 guys who passed to him"

The best team won the league ! That's what you get for playing attacking football and never giving up ! Next stop is Moscow and I believe we can win that to. Next season will be tight also with the big teams enforcing the line ups already, but I think Man U can do it again. We need another striker, the paper's say we might buy Micheal Owen. I think Berbatov or Eto'o would be a better choice !
