Potter: New Saints coach

Catalans Dragons coach Mick Potter insists that he will be fully focused on only the French side's fortunes for the rest of the season, and will not have one eye on planning next season with St Helens.

The Australian coach has already signed a two-year deal to replace Daniel Anderson at Knowsley Road at the end of the current season.

Potter will continue in charge of the Dragons until the end of the current campaign, and he insists that there will be no conflict of interest.

Catalans have been flying this season and are currently third in Super League, and if they continue they could well be battling it out with Saints in the play-offs.

Potter says he will in no way have an eye on any St Helens matter this season, even player recruitment for next season, and will only be thinking Catalans until their season is over.

Conflict

With the Dragons doing so well they fear that Potter could take some of his top stars with him to St Helens, but he told Boots 'n' All that he is not even thinking about Saints yet.

"I will wait until I am on board - I think that would be really detrimental to the organisation I am currently with and a real conflict," said Potter.

"There is no way I would jeopardise the club I currently work for, I think that would be the wrong thing to do."

Potter became a big target after guiding the Dragons to the Challenge Cup final last year, and finally agreed to replace Anderson - who is returning to Australia for family reasons.

Although he has done wonders in Perpignan, Potter is delighted to be taking up the challenge at Saints.

Potter added: "I'm looking forward to it and come October it will be a fresh challenge.

"I have got a bit of work to do before that and will be trying to progress the Catalans Dragons as far as I can until October."
