Carter: All Blacks star

New Zealand's Dan Carter admits he would relish the prospect of playing in the northern hemisphere and would be open to offers from European clubs in the future.

A number of All Blacks players have moved to Europe in recent times and Carter will be keeping an eye on the Heineken Cup this season to see how his international team-mates are getting on.

And speaking to The Rugby Club, he admitted he would be tempted to join them at some stage in the future.

He said: "I watch hardly any rugby at all, but I take an interest in certain teams that my fellow team-mates play for. I keep a bit of an eye on how they are going and if they are playing any good or not.

"I guess I'll take a bit more of an interest in the Heineken Cup because I know a lot more players over here.

"I would definitely consider playing here as I really enjoy playing over here. There are great crowds and great people, so it's something I would have to have a good think about.

"I'll see where I want my career to head, but it's definitely on the cards in the future."

World-class

One player who has made the switch is Luke McAlister, and Carter backed his All Blacks team-mate to shine for Sale.

"He's a world-class player," he continued.

"He's come over here at a young age and he's still got a lot to offer and lot to learn. He's going to do that over here and he will raise a few eyebrows.

"He's a real classy player with all the skills. He'll be a star performer in the Heineken Cup and the other competitions."

Underwear

Carter was speaking in London to promote his new range of underwear and admitted that New Zealand's quarter-final exit at the World Cup has hit the popularity of his clothing business.

He said: "I have my own clothing business in New Zealand and I have a couple of shops open over there so I often go in and get behind the tills in my free time. People find it bizarre to see someone they know from TV working behind the counter.

"Business is not too bad, though I guess it would have been better if we'd done a bit better at the World Cup. I'm just in it because I'm interested in it and if it works out well then that's a bonus."
