Campo in action for Australia
Do you really want me to talk about England? You guys are suckers for punishment.
David Campese remains England's fiercest critic and the rugby legend told the Rugby Club that the World Champions had no chance against South Africa.
In 2003 ago Campese showed he did have a sense of humour by walking the length of Oxford Street with a sign declaring the better team won after England beat Australia to claim the Webb Ellis trophy.
Four years on that experience has not tempered his criticism for England who he says have failed to progress and lack hunger.
"Do you really want me to talk about England? You guys are suckers for punishment," joked Campese.
"I actually thought before Sunday's game that England had a chance, but watching them play against the USA, well I just think they have no idea.
"Once you win something, you have to start doing a lot more hard work. Once you are tagged World Champions everyone wants to lift their game to belt you.
"I think going to South Africa this year with their third team and to be belted by 50-60 points was not mentally a good thing to do.
"Mentally South Africa have the edge and I can't see them really losing. England have not got any backs, they cannot score tries. We saw that in the warm up games.
"You also need the enthusiasm and I don't think the English have got that at the moment. There is no hunger.
"I don't think England have got a chance. I think they should forget about this World Cup."
As far as Australia's chances go, Campese believes that they are playing some good rugby and should not have too much of a problem when they meet Wales in Cardiff.
"I thought it was quite good against Japan who were very spirited," said Campo who won 100 caps for Australia.
"You have to say Australia are favourites against Wales but Wales at home -- well you have to say that is going to be difficult and the Welsh will get up for this game.
"They have not hit any form in the last two years though and the Wallabies, who are on a mission, will probably win that easily.
"Combinations are vital and I think Stirling Mortlock is a key player. He has played very well this season in the Tri-Nations.
"But it all starts up in the front. If the forwards can't get clean ball for the backs well you are going to struggle, but Australia have match winners.
"Australia can play a good style of rugby and I hope they play a style that everyone tries to chase."
