The Korean former weightlifter affectionately known as 'Tank' by his fellow countrymen led the Open Championship at the halfway stage after a fine second round at Royal Birkdale but fell away over the weekend and eventually finished 16th after taking an eight at the last. Won the Sony Open in Hawaii at the start of the year and in March he reached a career-high fifth in the world rankings (he is currently 12th) and all his best form came before the Masters. His USPGA form is solid and he could well contend this week, although it is hard to predict whether his Open collapse has taken a long-term toll.
