Jamie Murray: Kept mixed doubles hopes alive

Jamie Murray began the defence of his Wimbledon mixed doubles crown as he and American partner Liezel Huber beat Nadia Petrova and Dmitry Tursunov 6-2 2-6 9-7.

Murray, who won the title last year with Serbian star Jelena Jankovic, won the opening set quite comfortably in their second-round match after the pair were granted a bye in round one.

However, the Russian duo returned to take the second set before Murray and Huber - seeded 12th - claimed an epic last set out on Court 19.

Earlier Murray and Max Mirnyi were knocked out of the men's doubles in straight sets.

The 14th seeds were beaten by second seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic 6-2 7-5 6-3 on Court 3 in their third-round match.

Murray and Mirnyi were broken twice in the opening set and once each in the second and third, while they fashioned only two break points on their opponents' serve.
