Former Great Britain international David Norris has confirmed his retirement from speedway.
The 35-year-old has taken the decision in order to avoid any major injuries.
Norris has not ridden since the middle of the year and he has accepted he is no longer able to ride at the level he expects of himself.
"It has been very hard. I was supposed to have announced I was retiring after the last meeting, but I just couldn't get round to doing it. I suppose I didn't want to do it," admitted Norris.
"But I'm at a stage now where I can't take another hit on my neck or my head. If I didn't have my kids and my wife I might consider carrying on, but you can't live just for yourself. It would be no good for them if I was out there."
