Bonds: No takers
Barry Bonds' agent says that Major League clubs are not showing any interest in the controversial record home-run hitter.
Bonds' representative Jeff Borris says that he has not received any concrete offers for the record home-run hitter, who has been hit with new charges of perjury and obstruction of justice by a San Francisco grand jury.
With that still lying over him no club is willing to take a risk on the man who hit the record books with his 755th home run last year.
Bonds has been dogged by years of steroid accusations although has never failed a drugs test for performance enhancing drugs.
Borris believes that Bonds, who left the San Francisco Giants to become a free agent last November, deserves more as he winds down towards the end of his career.
"I am not optimistic any team will approach me about Barry before the (July 31) trading deadline," Borris said.
"I'm more convinced now than ever that he won't be in a major-league uniform in 2008 and I think that is a pathetic way for him to go out. He is deserving of better - he gave his heart and soul to this game."
43-year-old Bonds will accept the league minimum salary of $390,000 but, although field managers would be keen to have him on their roster, the men in the offices are reluctant to have his controversial name associated with their club.
Reports of interest from the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Mets and Boston Red Sox have come to nothing and now Bonds seems almost certain to be without an MLB home.
