Great Britain will line-up alongside Switzerland at the front of the grid for Sunday's feature race at the Zhuhai A1GP in China.

Neel Jani's late charge secured Team Switzerland pole position, pushing Team GB's Oliver Jarvis into second.

India's Narain Karthikeyan secured third, and he was closely followed by France's Loic Duval.

Germany took fifth spot, while China's CongFu Cheng gave the home fans something to shout about by qualifying in sixth position.

Jarvis, 23, was unable to take part in the rookie sesson for the first time, having taken part in more than six A1GP races, but he is sure the team can give a good showing.

Expectations

"The free practice and qualifying sessions have been pretty tough," he said. "The track adheres to very close times so a small mistake can make a big difference.

"It's also very difficult to get a full lap together, there's a lot of heavy braking zones and it's very easy to make a mistake.

"We've struggled a little bit so far but hopefully we can have very good races and score a lot of points."

German rookie Michael Ammermuller took his first pole position in the sprint race meanwhile, and Jani claimed second on the grid.

Ireland's Adam Carroll had been quickest around the 4.3km Chinese circuit in Q1, but lines-up in third with Cheng in fourth.

Team GB start in fifth and Czech Republic's Tomas Enge qualified in sixth.
