Leicester lose prop Moreno

Leicester coach Pat Howard has admitted that Alex Moreno could miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

The prop ruptured ligaments during a training session and is likely to be out of action for around six months.

It's just one of those things," Howard told the club's website. "He was taken on from both sides and he just gave way.

"It's happened before to Alex and he's got experience in rehabbing his way back and we'll hope to have him back as soon as possible.

"You can look at it in a negative way and say it's really bad he's out for the season but you can look at it and say it's good that this didn't happen while Julian White and Graham Rowntree were out."

There was better news for Leicester over the fitness of Daryl Gibson, with the centre being told he doesn't need surgery to repair the shoulder problem he picked up against Bristol.

The Tigers' vice-captain was thought to be out for around four months but it is now hoped he can be available again for selection in February.

"The news is very positive on Daryl," Howard said. "He doesn't need surgery and he will be back in a minimum of three weeks or more likely around six weeks.

"Matt Cornwell and Danny Hipkiss have both done well in that position and are trying to make the shirt their own, but it will be nice to have Daryl's experience available."
