Irish Case for Powergen regret

London Irish captain Bob Casey was devastated after his team let a lead slip with just one minute of normal time remaining against Wasps.

Irish have started the season impressively, playing some positive rugby along the way, none more so than today as they rattled the champions in just about every department.

However, a last gasp Alex King drop goal stole victory for the visitors, and Casey admitted that it was a bitter pill to swallow.

"It's a measure of how far we have come since last season that the boys are devastated down in the changing room," said Casey.

"But there's a lot of encouragement to be taken, especially the lineout contesting, which was excellent. Nick Kennedy was superb."

Wasps chief Ian McGeechan had reason to feel disappointed despite his side's late win, after his watching his the line-out fail to function for the whole afternoon.

McGeechan stressed: "You are having to chase the game if you haven't got possession. It becomes a difficult game when you don't have the ball.

Coach Shaun Edwards added: "We didn't look like a Wasps side in the first half."
