Lloyd: Signs for two more years
Saracens prop Nick Lloyd has secured a new two-year deal with the Vicarage Road outfit after a strong season with the Guinness Premiership club.
The England hopeful caught the eye of the national selectors who have named him in the England Saxons squad for the Churchill Cup next month.
Lloyd explained to the club's official website: "I'm delighted to have signed a new contract with Saracens and am really looking forward to the years ahead.
"This time last year, I was struggling for a contract and Alan Gaffney and the coaching staff showed a lot of faith in me."
Lloyd is honoured to be selected to wear the red rose of England despite also qualifying for Scotland through a grandparent and having already trained with the Scottish team.
"It's been a very good few weeks for me," said Lloyd.
"I've had some encouraging chats with Graham Rowntree in the past few months and he explained that the England coaches were pleased with the things I was doing at Saracens and they asked me to be involved.
"I've had some involvement with the Scottish training squads before but nothing since Frank Hadden took over so when England made contact, it left me with no real decision to make.
"As a club we've enjoyed a good season, especially in the cup competitions and I've benefited from being part of a strong team.
"This is very exciting for me because I've never played representative rugby at any level in my career so this is a great opportunity for me.
"The Saxons selection has come because I've been able to play regular rugby in a good Saracens team and I now have to replicate that level of performance."
