Reds swoop for Goulding

Goulding: Salford switch

I was stuck in the reserves at Wigan so this will really give me the chance to show what I can do. I have international aspirations and this will hopefully allow me to push myself regularly at Super League level.

Wigan Warriors centre Darrell Goulding has joined Salford City Reds on loan.

Goulding has made just two engage Super League appearances this season and looks set to make his Salford bow against Catalans Dragons on Saturday.

The 21-year-old could be a straight replacement for Australian three-quarter Mark Henry, who is doubtful for the trip to France after picking up a rib cartilage injury in the win at Leeds on Easter Monday.

"Darrell is an exciting young player who provides utility options in the outside backs," said Salford coach Shaun McRae.

"It is a great opportunity for Darrell to showcase his talents and ability and I'm looking for him to make an immediate impact.

"Darrell will be travelling to France with us and will be named in the squad. I don't bring in loan players to play in the reserves."

Goulding, who scored eight tries in 21 appearances for Wigan last season, added: "It's exciting to be joining a club on top form.

"I saw the results this weekend and was really surprised at the Leeds score. Things are going well here and I can't wait to get into the thick of it.

"I was stuck in the reserves at Wigan so this will really give me the chance to show what I can do. I have international aspirations and this will hopefully allow me to push myself regularly at Super League level."
