Kieswetter: eligible for England in February
Somerset wicketkeeper Craig Kieswetter has been added to the England Performance Programme squad despite not yet being qualified to represent his adopted country.
Kieswetter was born in South Africa and represented the Proteas at under 19 level but was educated at Millfield School and joined Somerset in 2006.
He has since established himself as the first-choice wicketkeeper at Taunton and his explosive batting, particularly at the top of the order in limited-overs cricket, has seen him talked of as a potential England player.
The 21-year-old becomes eligible next February and, ahead of his qualification, will train with the Performance Programme squad for eight weeks in Loughborough and South Africa during November and December.
Kieswetter has been named as a 'category B' squad member, designed for those with first-class experience who could graduate to the senior side with one to three years' development.
