Blake: Into the last eight

James Blake admitted he created his own problems as he stuttered to a 6-3 7-5 victory over South Korean qualifier Jun Woong-sun at the ATP Indianapolis Tennis Championships.

The top seed, who won the title here in 2006, failed to reach top form and needed to save two set points in the second before going on to seal the win in 71 minutes.

"I shouldn't have had as much trouble as I did," Blake admitted. "He made me work hard and gave me a scare.

"It had more to do with me than him today, maybe I felt him out a bit too much at first.

"I felt good about the last few games, those are the ones I'll remember for the next round."

Problem

Blake will now face Lu Yen-Hsun in the quarter-finals after the Taiwan player overcame a back problem to beat Rajeev Ram 6-1 7-6 (7-1).

"I felt the problem in the first set when I was a bit tight, but it got worse in the second," said Lu.

"I still had confidence that I could go through.

"I felt more pain in the second. But I took my chances in the tiebreaker to win."

Bobby Reynolds has reached the last eight on the ATP tour for the third time in his career with a 6-1 6-1 over Colombian Alejandro Falla.

Reynolds will now face Sam Querrey, who beat fellow American Vincent Spadea 4-6 6-3 6-4.
