Grant: Redknapp's choice
Former Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp believes Avram Grant should not rule himself out of the race for the Fratton Park hot-seat.
Paul Hart received the axe from the Premier League strugglers on Tuesday, with director of football Grant initially installed as favourite for the post.
The Israeli is thought to have ruled himself out of the running, although Redknapp believes he would be the best choice.
The Spurs boss told Sky Sports News: "Avram's there - he worked with me there, he's managed Chelsea.
"I'd be surprised if he didn't end up taking it - it's a good opportunity for him to get back into management but I don't know, only he will know exactly want he wants to do.
"But he would be my choice if anybody was to take it."
Redknapp also expressed his disappointment that Hart had got the sack.
"I was disappointed to hear that - he is a great guy, a real football man, he has got a terrific understanding of the game.
"He did a great job under difficult circumstances and I think it is sad to see him lose his job."
He added he heard the news on the radio.
"I tried ringing him but obviously he is not taking too many calls tonight."
