Rangers in Romania
Rangers chief executive Martin Bain feels trouble in Bucharest on Wednesday should have been prevented.
There was unrest at Steaua Stadium as the Gers played out a 1-1 draw with Unirea Urziceni in the UEFA Champions League.
The incident is said to have stemmed from an occurrence prior to kick-off as away supporters attempted to enter the ground.
Once inside some of those in the stands proceeded to rip up seats as the action unfolded in front of them, leading to an ugly confrontation with match stewards.
Bain has condemned the actions of those in question, but claims poor organisation on the part of the Romanian hosts was to blame for the skirmish.
"Obviously the behaviour of some of the fans inside the stadium was unacceptable and no-one likes to see that," he said in a statement released on the club's official website.
"However, what was equally unacceptable was the fact that Rangers came to this stadium with representatives from Uefa and Unirea a number of weeks ago and arranged for the four turnstiles to be open to give access to our supporters.
"When they arrived this evening there were only two turnstiles open which caused difficulty gaining access and fans then to be sprayed with CS gas is totally unacceptable.
"I will now make representation to Uefa on their behalf."
