Adkins: Weighing up options

Scunthorpe have handed a trial to former Manchester United defender Michael Lee.

The 20-year-old had been at Old Trafford since he was a schoolboy and spent part of last season on loan at Royal Antwerp.

However, he was deemed surplus to requirements by the Red Devils at the end of last season and was subsequently released.

As a result, Irons boss Nigel Adkins has decided to run the rule over the youngster during a short spell training with the club.

Lee would provide the League One side with a fresh option in defence, as fellow left-back Marcus Williams continues to stall on signing a new contract.

Williams is still training with the Irons but may yet decide that his future lies away from Glanford Park.
