Caines: No approach
Crewe have denied suggestions that they made an official approach for Cheltenham defender Gavin Caines.
The 24-year-old, who has recently signed a new deal at Whaddon Road, had claimed that he rejected the advances of the Railwaymen before agreeing to stay with the Robins.
However, Crewe assistant manager Neil Baker has strenuously denied these claims and insists that the player was never a transfer target.
"I don't really know where these quotes have come from because they are simply not true," Baker told the club's official website.
"We have never spoken to Gavin Caines and we did certainly not make him an offer.
"He has re-signed for Cheltenham which is his prerogative and I don't really understand why we have been mentioned because we never made him or his agent any sort of offer, let alone been turned down."
