Ward: Expects tough second leg

Carlisle manager John Ward admits his side will have their work cut out in preventing Leeds from scoring in the second leg of their League One play-off semi-final.

Ward saw his side record a 2-1 first-leg victory at Elland Road on Monday as goals from Danny Graham and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson put the visitors in front only for Leeds forward Dougie Freedman to rescue late hope with a 96th minute strike.

And while Ward admits that Freedman's goal has made Carlisle's task a tough one ahead of Thursday's return leg a Brunton Park, a match which can be seen live on Sky Sports, he confesses he cannot complain too much.

"We are very pleased with what we have got, the boys are slightly disappointed with the last goal going in, but things could be a lot worse," Ward told Sky Sports 1.

Disappointed

"To come here to Leeds and get a goal lead going back to Carlisle, we have got to be pleased with that.

"It disappoints because you want to go two goals ahead, but in football matches you don't normally get a start.

"There are goals in both sides and we have got to stop Leeds from getting their goal.

"We have had three games against them and there have been goals and don't rule it out in the second leg."
