Defoe: Happy to play
Jermain Defoe has stressed he does not want to leave Tottenham Hotspur following his two-goal salvo against Anorthosis Famagusta.
The striker was left out of the Spurs 16 for last week's North London derby defeat to Arsenal and it sparked talk of a move away from White Hart Lane.
Spurs boss Martin Jol is keen for the England international to sign a new contract, while Defoe is simply eager to play football on a regular basis.
"I was just glad to be involved," Defoe told Sky Sports News. "I couldn't wait to run out on the pitch.
"It's all I want to do. When I play football, I'm happy and I was delighted with the goals."
Defoe also paid tribute to the supporters, adding: "I think if it weren't for the fans I don't think I'd be able to go out and score two goals.
"They lifted me and gave me energy. It was quite emotional as I've not been involved. The fans have been unbelievable.
"A lot of things have been said during the summer, 'is he going to go?' When the fans are like that I don't want to go anywhere."
The 24-year-old, who came off the bench to score twice in the 6-1 Uefa Cup win over Anorthosis, concedes it was tough to miss last week's clash with Arsenal.
He continued: "It was difficult. It's hard to find the words to express how I felt.
"I still came to the game and I was in the changing rooms before the game and said good luck to all the boys.
"It was frustrating watching it. I thought we played well."
