Latham: Reported to be joining Worcester
A report in Australia has suggested Chris Latham has all but signed with Worcester for the next two or three years, thus ruling himself out of Robbie Deans' new empire.
The Daily Telegraph said that Latham had decided to join former Reds team-mate Shane Drahm, as well as All Blacks Rico Gear, Greg Rawlinson, and Sam Tuitupou, at Sixways next year.
It is not clear whether Latham has secured an early contract release in order to make the move though - he is contracted until the end of 2008.
Latham, 32, is one of Australia's most popular and passionate players with a destructive running technique from full-back, and is a veteran of 78 international Tests and 11 seasons with the Reds.
He missed the 2007 Super 14 while having his knee reconstructed after a pre-season training accident, but recovered ahead of schedule to make the World Cup, where he was one of Australia's most influential players.
He was recently offered an extension ot his ARU contract, but turned it down as much of the pay on offer was incentive-based. Worcester are said in the report to be offering a top-end paycheque similar to the A$600,000 ($515,000) per season.
