Barrow: wanted Brown sound
Portishead's Geoff Barrow and Malakai's Scott Hendy dropped into the Soccer AM Studio on Saturday morning to talk about their new albums and being terrified of being on the show!
Portishead are back after a ten year absence with their long-awaited new album, Third, while Hendy's band Malakai are signed to Barrow's own label Invada.
On the new Portishead album Barrow was quoted as saying he wanted the first song on the new album to sound like; "When Muhammad Ali fought George Foreman at the 'Rumble in the Jungle' and James Brown played."
So we thought it was only right to ask him if he thought they had achieved that! For the answer to that question and lots more, including all the ones below, just click on the video on the right.
How does it feel to be back after so long?
Why have Portishead been away so long?
How did Malakai get signed to Invada?
Do they get annoyed when their music is used constantly in adverts and TV shows?
