It is always disappointing to see a major champion miss out on playing Ryder Cup golf (think John Daly), so it is pleasing to see the 31-year-old from Ohio making his debut in the US team. Curtis shot to prominence in 2003 when he won the Open at Royal St George's on his first appearance in a major championship. That was widely regarded as a fluke, particularly when the affable chap disappeared off the radar for three years. But he bounced back spectacularly in 2006 with two PGA Tour wins and tied for eighth at the Open a year later. He had another top 10 at Birkdale this year and his second at the USPGA confirmed Curtis is a major contender once again. Has yet to win this year but has four top 10s and more than $2million in winnings. One of the best putters around, Curtis could be one of the stars of a US revival.
