I have to say these majors do go with form and on current form its hard to see past Ross Fisher. was mightly impressed with him at the Scottish open with his victory. good odds to at 66/1 worth a cheeky lady gadivor.

Having backed Martin Kaymer for the US Open and got a run for my money in the first 3 rounds, I'll stick with him as my main selection for The Open. Annoyingly, he won the following week in Munich and I wasn't on. He is in form and, if he can keep things together in the last round, he will do well. Justin Leonard also makes some appeal. He's done it before, has a recent victory in the USA under his belt and Americans have a fantastic record at The Open.

well here we go again without the tiger . at st andrews when monty was 2nd he was quoted as saying if it hadnt been for tiger woods hedve won so why not this year at long last ?, other than that ernie has to be in there along with mickleson if his driving is ok ,,

Plenty of value to be had especially as Tigers missing. Westwood should be thereabouts, but I like the look of Ross Fisher @ 66/1, Cabrera @ 50/1 or at even higher prices Tim Clark or Soren Hansen. All four would be good each-way bets.

The Open Championship? Its the annnual conundrum, who can demystify it, well its hard to decipher a winner. I would love Padraig Harrington to win again. I think it would be great for Irish golf, but will he even play. In his absence , I think Michael Campbell has as good a chance as any but this Open Champioship is wide open and predictions are difficult in a historically capricious event.

I think we will have another Curtis/Hamilton/Micheel. With the course set up more for target golf it is wide open.........open enough for 275/1 Calcavecchia to win another one!! Harrington did not need Tiger to be missing last year, but the news of his injury is worrying.

I think its a tough one to call this year. Garcia and Els have to be favourites with Woods not in the field, as they are always close but tend to bottle it when they see Tigers name on the leaderboard, however with Woods well out of their sight and mind it could be their year. Id like to see Adam Scott come forward and take the Claret Jug. He has never lived up to his world number 3 ranking and Players Championship crown in 2004, and perhaps it could be his time to claim that first major!

I too would love to see Sergio win a Major this year to get that load off his back. He started so well at the age of 19 with full potential awaiting realisation. I believe he will break his fellow countryman Ballesteros's 5 Majors. Can he get the coming Open? Well, not this time. My money is on a Briton or an Australian

My money's on Sergio this year. His putting is now looking good again and there are few better from tee to green. I think he's learned from his mistakes at Carnoustie and can go one better this time.
