Short game guru Dave Peltz has praised Colin Montgomerie's much-maligned putting.
The big Scot has been one of the finest players of the last two decades tee to green, but by his own admission has struggled with the flat stick.
Pelz insists there is nothing wrong with the eight-time European number one's putting stroke.
"I worked with Monty after he had won six (Order of Merit titles) in a row," the American told Sky Sports News. "He was really off form and he came to the States and he came to school.
"I saw his putting and I have measured it. He is good, he is a good putter. Not the best I've ever seen, but in the Ryder Cup he is just unbelievable."
Mickelson
Peltz is widely credited with helping Phil Mickelson end his major drought at the 47th attempt, after more than a decade of near misses and 17 top 10s.
But Peltz insists: "I take no responsiblity for making Phil Mickelson a great player. And I have never hit a shot for him - he's hit all the shots.
"Having said that, since we started working he has improved. His short game was fabulous before and he is a little better than fabulous now."
Mickelson himself has credited his coach with helping him over the major hurdle and told Sky Sports News: "Throughout my career I have not been as effective in the wind as I would like to be. About four years ago, working with Dave Peltz, I have learned how to hit shots lower and take the spin off of it."
