Born in Germany, Sebastian Vettel is one of the new young hotshots in Formula One.
He started as BMW Sauber's test driver from the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix onwards and made his Formula One race debut when he drove for the German team at the 2007 United States Grand Prix in place of the injured Robert Kubica.
That race weekend saw Vettel set a new F1 record when, thanks to an eighth-placed finish, he became the youngest driver to score a World Championship point.
Also contesting the World Series by Renault, Vettel briefly returned to his role as test driver but, after Scuderia Toro Rosso dispensed with the services of Scott Speed, he joined the Red Bull-backed team.
Vettel made his STR debut at the 2007 Hungarian GP and almost scored Toro Rosso's first podium finish at the Japanese GP in September. However a crash when running third behind Mark Webber during a safety car period brought an end to that dream.
He did, howeve, redeem himself one race later when he claimed fourth place at the Chinese GP - earning Toro Rosso their best result ever.
Vettel will remain at Toro Rosso in 2008 where he will partner ChampCar Champion Sebastien Bourdais.
Race of Champions - including Lewis Hamilton vs Chris Hoy - will be live and in HD on Sky Sports.
