Bond: Looking for upset

Brett Pitman is doubtful for Bournemouth, while Cardiff boss Dave Jones is set to make changes for the Carling Cup match.

Striker Pitman sustained a knock in Bournemouth's League Two opener against Gillingham on Saturday and was replaced in the closing stages of the 1-1 draw by Josh McQuoid.

Danny Hollands will be out until September having undergone knee surgery last week, while fellow midfielder Joe Partington could also remain sidelined due to a hip injury.

However, Kevin Bond has no other concerns as his side seek to cause an upset against the Championship outfit.

The Cherries were boosted at the weekend when defender Carl Pettefer signed a month-to-month contract following a successful trial and he was named among the substitutes against the Gills.

Purse return

Darren Purse looks likely to return for Cardiff, while recent signings Miguel Comminges and Darren Dennehy should make their debuts.

Striker Jay Bothroyd may start after impressing from the bench in the latter stages of Saturday's 2-1 win over Southampton.

The Bluebirds have no new injury concerns, however, with defender Tony Capaldi the only casualty after having keyhole surgery on his knee.

Jones may opt to rest some of his senior players but will be keen to put out a strong line-up with memories of last season's run to the FA Cup final fresh in everyone's minds.
