Yakubu

Fulham have done it and won a priceless three points in their bid to stave off the drop. Brian McBride is the hero for Fulham as his well taken header gives Fulham fresh hope of retaining their Premier League status.

91 - Hangeland mops up well to deny a marauding Yakubu. The big Scandinavian has done well this afternoon.

Three minutes of stoppage time are on the board.

89 - Johnson goes close with a fine drive that edges a yard or so over. The Fulham striker has been lively - if a little erratic - all afternoon. You can't question his heart though.

87 - Fulham look good for the spoils as they are passing the ball with some confidence now. Clearly Everton's Uefa Cup exertions have played their part today. That's not to take anything away from the home side though - who just about deserve the win.

85 - Fulham sub The excellent Bullard is to replaced by Volz.

83 - Davies has a nightmare when free no more than six yards from goal. The Welshman should have put the game to bed, only to pull a limp effort meekly wide.

81 - Bocanegra is relieved to see his blocekd clearance rebound off Osman and through to Keller. Fulham's fans look less than convinced about their side's ability to keep a cleansheet.

79 - Keller blows out his cheeks as he gathers Yakubu's snapshot. The big man failed to get any real purchase behind his shot.

78 - Safe to say Johnson is no Van Basten as he puts another volley out of the ground. I suspect the ball will land in Chelsea.

76 - Hibbert is claiming a corner from his header at the back post but Bennett is having none of it. Everton don't look as if they've the legs to break Fulham down.

74 - Bocanegra on for Fulham as Murphy is replaced. Fulham are bubbling and look like they might just nick a second.

It's a measure of Everton's problems in attack that Moyes has been forced to throw a left-back into his front-line. It seems likely Everton are going to go increasinly long from here on in.

71 - Things are heating up here as Johnson fires a half volley over the top after Everton failed to clear Bullard's excellent delivery. Lescott has been pushed up front, Baines to left-back.

70 - Wonderful chance for Everton to level. Arteta swung in a deep corner but Yobbo's free header was powered well wide.

On his return from injury McBride has shown how crucial he could be in their bid to stay up. Davies, another former Toffee, flew down the left and clipped in a delivish ball, which took a nick off Yobbo. McBride showed excellent instincts in stooping to head past Howard.

67 - GOAL for FULHAM McBride has headed in against his former club. A massive goal for Fulham.

66 - Bright move for Everton comes to an end when Hibbert clips into the chest of Keller on the overlap.

65 - Everton sub Pienaar has come off to be replaced by Baines.

63 - Excellent block by Konchesky cleared a Neville angled shot on the overlap. The corner comes to nothing but Konchesky did well there in covering his central defender.

62 - Davies heads a couple of yards over the top from another Bullard corner. Fulham need to score now when they have a sustained period of possession.

60 - Cottage in fine voice as Fulham begin to turn the screw. Bullard is becoming increasingly influential. From his pass to McBride, the American almost played in Johnson with a clever flick. Everton look tired following their midweek epic against Fiorentina.

59 - Fulham win a corner after Johnson showed a quick pair of heels down the right. Again Carsley was in the right place to deny Fulham. From the resulting corner, the first of the game, the American headed over the top.

56 - Jagielka has put in another solid shift as he denies McBride. The England hopeful is growing in stature with every game. On the counter Pienaar was thwarted by Keller - who was rapid in coming off his line.

53 - Murphy booked for late challenge on Neville. Seemed a little harsh as the Fulham man was clearly going for the ball. Nothing malicious.

52 - Game springs to life as Arteta has a daisy cutter blocked on the edge of Fulham's box. At the other end, Carsley got in a fine defensive header to clear from McBride.

Yakubu is coming deep as he becomes frustrated by a lack of service. The big man needs to stay up as a central and advanced threat though, as in Johnson's absence, Everton are a little bare in attack.

49 - Good work by Bullard and Murphy stops an Everton attack in its tracks. The two are a decent central pairing but Fulham still look desperately short of goals.

Replays show Lescott had a decent shout for a penalty. Hangeland appeared to be holding the advanced full-back by the shirt. A let off for Fulham.

46 - Neat foot work by Arteta wins a free-kick off Murphy. The Spaniard pings the ball in delightfully but Lescott failed to reach his cross under pressure from Hangeland.

Everton kick-off the second half. Immediately possession is squandered as Keller gets his first touch of the second period.

45 - Half-time We've reached half-time here in the capital and only the biting cold is keeping the crowd awake. Not a classic by any stretch of the imagination but as D:Ream said: "Things can only get better". We live in hope.

43 - Osman's puppy eyes fail to convince Steve Bennett that Hughes' challenge on the Everton midfielder is worth a penalty. Clearly he's a cat man. Would have been harsh methinks.

42 - First real save of the game as Yakubu is given acres in which to conjure a shooting opportunity. Fortunately for Fulham, his shot was into the throat of Keller.

40 Davies squanders possession in a good position as he dwells on the ball. This just about sums Fulham up today as a lack of confidence causes unforced errors.

38 - Everton have not been there usual productive selves in the centre of the field but Moyes will be happy enough with a clean-sheet heading into the break. Fulham's brief rally has been sated and we are beginning to see why perhaps they have struggled.

36 - Arteta stands over an attacking free-kick which he overhits horribly. The Spaniard is normally a wizard from the set-pieces but there was nothing Paul Daniels about that.

33 - Wind is gathering pace as Howard struggles to clear with any distance. The rain has started to lash down as well now, so perhaps we'll give the players the benefit of the doubt for what has been dished up so far. It's certainly more Little Chef than The Ivy.

32 - Rapid Eddie Johnson wins an attacking throw through sheer pace. The ball is lobbed in the box, but twice Yobbo is on hand to head away. Good play by the Nigerian.

30 - As we reach the half hour mark it's fair to say the club shop won't sell out of the DVDs of this one. Unsurprisingly it's tense but it'll be Everton the happier as they'll fancy nicking one on the break.

28 - Murphy strikes into the ground but while his shot had venom, Jagielka - are you watching Fabio - got in another good block.

25 - First sighting for Yak as he charges his way past a couple of lethargic challenges before firing in low at Keller. The American gathered comfortably but Yak has delivered his first warning shot.

23 - Pienaar tries luck from distance but it's rather meek and defelcts off Osman and wide. The South African has switched flanks with Arteta.

21 - Efficient Carsley mops up again in front of Everton's back four. Just when did Carsley turn from being a rotund, middling midfielder into a genuinely talented anchorman?

18 - Howard comes out sharply to collect an Andreasen cross from the left. Like a middle aged man the game has become a little flabby. Too many passes are going astray, with neither side looking particularly sharp.

16 - Everton have yet to really find their feet since Johnson's departure. The England man will be doubly dejected as Fabio has been spotted in the crowd.

A lack of strikers forces Moyes to move Neville into midfield - with Hibbert slotting in at right-back. Osman is to be pushed forward in support of Yakubu. Johnson looked sharp in midweek so it'll be a blow for Moyes.

13 - Johnson blow for Everton as he is forced off to be replaced by Tony Hibbert. The striker has picked up a groin injury and this will mean a reshuffle for Everton.

11- Andreasen sees low cross blocked as Fulham begin to exert a little pressure on their visitors. Jagielka got in the crucial interception.

10 - McBride goes close to scoring against his former employers with a stretching volley from Davies' fine floated pass. The two ex-Toffees combined well but to no eventual avail.

9 - A defensive mix-up between Hangeland and Bullard nearly allowed Johnson to nip in but Fulham cleared on the stretch. First real moment of genuine consternation in the game.

8 - Fulham have got a foothold in the game but there is a real lack of confidence in the final third. Eddie Johnson looks eager in running the channels but he's not received the service as yet.

5: Bright Bullard runs from deep to create a chance for himself but the joker in Fulham's pack shanked his drive wide from the edge of the box. If he plays today, Fulham might just eke out a result.

4: Neat interplay from the away side again falls down with the final pass. Fulham have yet to really settle but Bullard and Murphy at least seem eager to get on the ball. Can Fulham beat the drop this term?

2: Everton start brightly with Lescott eager to get forward on the overlap. His first foray comes to nothing but the England man looks full of confidence.

1: Fulham kick-off six points adrift of safety and well aware they must start winning soon if they are to have any chance of survival. There has only ever been one result in this fixture historically in the Premier League: Home win.

Early thoughts As kick-off approaches it's worth noting today marks six-years at the helm for David Moyes. Fair play to the fiery Scot, there can be no denying he's done a fine job on Merseyside. Everton go into the game desperate for fourth spot; fourth from bottom will do for the home side. Much will depend on whether Fulham can cope with the attacking threat posed by Big Yakubu and Andy Johnson. Let's hope for a good game. Any of your thoughts would be appreciated.
