Port of Spain may be better known as a holiday destination but the England players are preparing for the season's last hoorah.

While stars including Wayne Rooney, John Terry and Frank Lampard are preparing to hit the beach, Fabio Capello's men are about to take on the might of Trinidad & Tobago.

It's a low-key friendly with England's players watching on with envy as Euro 2008's protagonists put the finishing touches to their plans ahead of the tournament's kick-off on 7th June.

All 22 players in the trimmed down squad were put through their paces by the Italian and his assistants on Friday in temperatures of more than 80 degrees.

Hundreds of local football fans greeted David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and the other players as they entered the stadium to begin their preparations for a match which is expected to have more importance because of its off-the-field significance.

England are hoping their appearance in the Caribbean will help in terms of gaining votes for the 2018 World Cup bid.

Only Ferdinand and Wayne Bridge remain of the players who had been involved in the UEFA Champions League final.

Ashley Cole, Terry, Lampard, Joe Cole, Wes Brown, Owen Hargreaves and Rooney were excused duty after their exertions in Moscow.
