Watkins: Set to start

All-rounder Ryan Watkins comes in to the Glamorgan squad for the annual trip to Swansea for the LV County Championship clash with Northamptonshire.

Alex Wharf, who has recently signed a one-year contract extension, is the man to step down as part of the club's rotation policy.

Left-arm slow bowler Dean Cosker is also in contention for a place in the starting XI if Glamorgan decide to supplement their spin attack of Jamie Dalrymple and Robert Croft.

The St Helen's venue was the scene of Glamorgan's sole victory in the championship last summer, when Croft and Darren Thomas bagged five-wicket hauls as they defeated Nottinghamshire by 55 runs.

Northamptonshire have been forced to call up seamer David Wigley after South African Lance Klusener was ruled out with a thigh strain.

However, the injury is not serious and the all-rounder is expected to be back for the weekend Friends Provident Trophy clash with Nottinghamshire.

Niall O'Brien is likely to open the batting and keep wicket as Northants have opted not to recall the England Under-19 captain Alex Wakely, who made a century against Cardiff UCCE recently.
