Trescothick: Fit to face Sussex

Former England batsman Marcus Trescothick has been passed fit and will open up at the top of the Somerset order as title holders Sussex travel to Taunton.

The classy left-hander has shrugged off the Achilles tendon injury he sustained during Sunday's Friends Provident defeat to Gloucestershire, and the 32-year-old is fit to face the potent Sussex bowling attack.

After striking a majestic 151 during last week's Division One draw against Hampshire, Trescothick's return to fitness comes as a welcome boost for the newly-promoted outfit.

However, one player who has failed to return from injury in time is evergreen seamer Andrew Caddick.

Despite being given the all-clear to return to bowling following a neck injury, the former England paceman will not be rushed back - fast bowler Mark Turner is set to stand-by as 12th man.

Collymore debut

Sussex will have West Indies seam bowler Corey Collymore in their squad for the first time in the LV County Championship.

The Kolpak recruit is included in a 13-man squad and looks likely to make his four-day debut for his new employers.

Mushtaq Ahmed misses out on the chance to play against his former county as he is still recovering from knee surgery.

The Pakistan spinner is hoped to be back in time for Sussex's next championship fixture, away at Nottinghamshire next week.
