Bell: Braced for Derbyshire test

Ian Bell and Tim Ambrose make their final appearances for Warwickshire at Derby before joining the England squad for the first Test, which starts on May 15.

Warwickshire retain the same squad which drew with Leicestershire last week, with Lee Daggett looking to force his way into the line-up for the LV County Championship Division Two match.

Ambrose made a fine unbeaten 156 in the Edgbaston encounter, but Tony Frost can expect to take the gloves for the next first-class match with Cambridge UCCE if Ambrose is called up to the squad for Lord's as expected.

Navdeep Poonia also takes his place in the second XI after scoring 75 for Scotland in the Friends Provident Trophy match on Sunday.

Langeveldt debut

South African paceman Charl Langeveldt should make his County Championship debut against Warwickshire.

But Derbyshire will be without two of their key all-rounders, Graham Wagg, through illness, and Greg Smith, who has torn a muscle in his arm.

Wagg's absence could open up a spot for fellow left-arm medium-pacer Kevin Dean, who has been struggling with a knee injury in the early part of the season.

Captain Rikki Clarke will be hoping to lead his side to back-to-back victories in the competition after a thrilling final day win over Essex in their previous four-day fixture.
